Imtiaz Jamil, Head Coach of Striker Academy Soccer Schools was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in Warrington’s
Annual Sports Awards Ceremony last night, 30th April 2014.
The Awards, which celebrate sporting achievements from across the borough are a great platform to showcase the sporting prowess of the town and all the people behind the scenes that make it happen, from coaches, volunteers to schools and the athletes themselves.
This is the first time Striker Academy have been nominated for such an award so it was a great accolade to see their Head Coach get this fantastic recognition in such a fiercely contested category.
Imtiaz said after receiving the Award, “It’s really humbling to get nominated in the first place for such a prestigious Award.”
He continued, “There are a huge number of high calibre, dedicated coaches in Warrington and because of them all Warrington has an enviable track record of helping players from all backgrounds, abilities and ethnicities to achieve their very best. These Awards highlight some of the great work that goes on out there and it’s a fantastic opportunity to be involved.”
The event saw the likes of Paralympic Gold Medallist John Stubbs and Wheelchair Fencing Gold Medallist and British number one Adrian Derbyshire grace the stage informing the audience of their personal battles and triumphs.
A truly inspirational event and a great result for Striker Academy who have been helping develop talent across the borough since 2009.
